Zones of Regulation
We are very excited to be launching Zones of Regulations to our children this term. Zones of Regulation is a framework to help children identify, regulate and manage their emotions.
The Zones of Regulation use four colours to help children self-identify how they’re feeling and categorise it based on colour.
The children are taught about the four colours, and supported in many different ways on how to name their feelings, identify their triggers and develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
Each day starts for your child by them identifying their emotional ‘colour’ which they are able to adjust throughout the day in response to how they are feeling.
In each class, and in other areas around the school, Zones of Regulation Stations have been set up to enable children to regulate their emotions through easy access to the resources.
Zones of Regulation can be used at home as well as at school. Our website gives further information and support on how to do this. Follow this link to access this: https://www.westfield.surrey.sch.uk/page/?title=Zones+of+Regulation&pid=1282
