Year 6

Welcome back!

Welcome back! We hope that you all had a restful and relaxing summer holiday!

Year 6 is going to be the busiest year yet at Westfield!  We have lots of work to do to prepare our children for their SATs, and for life at secondary school and beyond.  It is vital that all children are supported to complete their reading, times tables and spellings. Each week, we will provide optional Maths and English homework via Seesaw.

Our topic this term is ‘The World at war: in the trenches!’ We will be learning all about both world wars, with a larger focus on WW2. In our science, we will be looking at light and electricity as it links beautifully to the war and how blackouts were a necessary part. In addition to our academic work, there is lots to look forward to this term: we have Motivational Workshops in the first week back to help the children understand how best to succeed with their learning. We will also be beginning our Diversity Week by looking at famous musicians around the world – we will be focusing on the inspirational Beatles.

We are looking forward to working closely with parents this year.  We will provide information about the upcoming SATs, and will always be available on our class email addresses: falconsclass@westfield.surrey.sch.uk, hawksclass@westfield.surrey.sch.uk.

We look forward to working with you and your children during this academic year.  If you have any concerns or worries about anything, just let us know!

Wishing you and your children a great first term in Year 6!
